AUSTIN, TEXAS (PART TWO)
Behind the Scenes of my newest "City Drawing"
"Austin, Texas (Part One)" Finished in 2013 |
This is more than just a behind the scenes blog, this is a love story between me and the city of Austin, Texas....
I moved from my hometown of Oakland, California to the city of Austin when I was just 19, back in 2007. I'd never been to Texas before, but my older sister was going to UT and I wanted to try and make a life for myself in a new place, but still near to family... The city was in the midst of incredible growth not only in culture, art, and population, but in it's architecture!
As I spent my days off exploring downtown Austin, walking along the beautiful Lady Bird Lake, and writing two novels while hanging out at the University of Texas campus library, I began to fall in love with the city. I watched the city change, familiar places get torn down or re-named, sold and abandoned, and new skyscrapers rise towards the sky...
I had only lived in Austin for three years when we moved to San Antonio, the city I am proud to call home and hope to have as my permanent home base - I LOVE San Antonio the most (see why I LOVE SAN ANTONIO in this series of 5 blog posts from 2014 HERE) ... Throughout these past few years since I've been living away from Austin, I've visited countless times & hope to share my love for not only the city that Austin was, but the city Austin is now and is becoming!
Join me as I take you behind the scenes of my newest "City Drawing" and my first of 2016.... "AUSTIN, TEXAS PART TWO"...
Here's to the bright future of the #ATX!
