2018 Year In Review

2018: Year In Review!

ART SHOWS/EVENTS

The year began with all 26 of my "City Drawings" displayed at MunchOn & Beyond / Famous Juice Co. This was the first time all of my drawings were on display in one place! It was great to see the progression and growth from my first cities!

Then, on January 13th I was set up for the 4 year anniversary of Creative Creatures surrounded by my fellow artist friends Naturally Abstract 210 & Sarah E. Cooper

And I closed out the month with a large display at Shop Rare Marketplace!

In March I had a print of my largest painting, inspired by the NETFLIX show STRANGER THINGS on display inside Creative Creatures!

And to show how huge the original painting is, here is my Mom next to it! :)

In March I had a couple photos featured at a gallery event at The Point Park with some local San Antonio photographer friends!

In the middle of March I set up to sell my art outside of Rockin' Monkey Designs! (The wonderful folks who make my stickers!) This was one of the first times my Mom was able to attend one of my shows and my Sister happened to be in town too!

At the end of March I was set up at the first ever San Antonio Wings & Beer Festival hosted by my friends over at EGCollaborations!

In April I was asked to be a vendor at a private event for local San Antonio Realtors!

After 13 months of working on my 27th "City Drawing" of New York City, it was finally complete and I debuted it at Paper Trail in June!!

Before

After

This was my most successful show to date since I started doing shows in 2014!

At the end of June I was asked to set up my art inside of the Wonderland of the Americas Mall thanks to my friends over at Que Retro Arts! Some highlights from this show included meeting two people who had been following me online for YEARS and wanted to meet me in person and have some of my art and photos for their home and office! So cool!

In July I was asked to curate original art, photos, and paintings to decorate the interior of a brand new coffee shop near downtown, Philo Coffee

In August I had one of my favorite photos featured as part of a group exhibition called URBAN GRIND! Thanks to my friends OneLove & OneDeep

In September I had one of my photos featured at 4x5 Photo Fest

Can you find my photo on the wall? ;)

In October I was asked to have my San Antonio & New York City drawings added to a private gallery inside of the San Antonio Ecumenical Center! They were both SOLD the opening night of the Art Heals Hearts event! Wow! And I was able to replenish the prints and they are still hanging inside of the counseling center now! :)

In November I was asked to curate art and photos of San Antonio for the inside of ALIDA!

Here's me with my friends Mike & Carmen who introduced me to the awesome owners of Alida! The food is amazing! :)

To close out the year, I had 3 shows back to back!
The first was at the Animal Defense League of San Antonio, across from the Zoo for their annual Artsy Barksy event!

I introduced new products at this show including coasters and pop sockets!

Then, I was displayed at the renowned Briscoe Western Art Museum along the Riverwalk for their private, members only Trunk Show & for a free, open to the public event as part of Downtown Tuesday!

This year has been INCREDIBLE! I am so grateful for all of the support and love and feedback from people at my shows, online, and in person! This photo represents 5 years of working behind the scenes, attending and being part of shows, studying and researching different ways to market and sell my work. In 2018 my online store made more than $1,150.00 (twice as much from 2017) and had almost 6,000 views (which is half of my total views since my store opening in 2015)!  Here's to another year of growth in 2019!

PHOTOGRAPHY

In 2018 I traveled less and worked a ton of hours of overtime! All while continuing to work relentlessly on creating art, editing photos, and working on my art business! However, when I was able to travel, I had the chance to experience and capture some truly amazing and unforgettable things!

My first "Away From Home" adventure was to Houston to spend my 30th birthday with my best friend of 10 years, VIOLET!

I am so grateful for the time I had to take photos with friends here in San Antonio! In April I hosted a photo walk around downtown with my friends Carmen, Mike, JEBUZR, CHRIS, & JEANINE

I had a quick photo shoot with my friend CARMEN around Southtown to add images to my "BLOOM" series! Here's a look back on those ;)

2016 w/ JAVI

New additions to my "BLOOM" series!

And she was nice enough to take photos of me too! :)

I had the chance to attend the annual LUMINARIA event downtown with my friends Chris & CHRISTINA

I took a road trip to the beautiful city of Corpus Christi in July!

And while visiting, I had the chance to explore the Art Museum of South Texas designed by my favorite architect, Ricardo Legorreta!

Then, in August, I helped my Mom move to Delaware from San Antonio and in the span of about 3 days I was able to visit and take photos around...

Washington D.C.
I was lucky enough to explore and hang out ,with two friends I knew from San Antonio who had moved to DC! We went to dinner and walked around the Lincoln Memorial during sunset, what an amazing experience! Then, on my last day on the East Coast, my Sister took me back to DC to take more photos!

NEW YORK CITY
I almost cried when I first laid eyes on the skyline at night... Shout out to my sister for taking me on this unforgettable adventure!

PHILADELPHIA
After an entire day of walking the entirety of Manhattan & seeing a friend in Brooklyn, we drove up to Philly and while my Sister drove around I literally ran around downtown taking photos as the sun set! INCREDIBLE experience!

CHICAGO
I took the train and bus back home from DC to San Antonio and stopped off in Chicago to meet a friend for coffee and I was able to take almost 1000 photos! It was beginning to rain and there I was running around the streets of Chicago, I couldn't believe it!

MUSIC
I wrote 6 original songs this year, but I felt that only 4 of them were ready to be shared, so here they are! Enjoy!
